Why Choosing Traditional Landscape Designs is Not Old-Fashioned
Sometimes, when my Steven Vandora and Associates team and I arrive at a new client’s home, the client tells us that he or she wants “the most modern’ landscaping and garden possible. Many people, it seems, think that “old-fashioned” is a dirty word and in some homes even “classic” is passe. Well, if you have ever looked at those atrocious “modern” gardens that are all concrete and glass, you surely know that there is nothing wrong with classic. There is a reason why the classic gardens of Versailles in France still draw thousands of eager visitors each year. While there is nothing wrong with modern (and at Steven Vandora and Associates we believe in modern pest control and modern tools to make homeowner’s lives easier), classic landscape design has many advantages:
1) It is timeless. When you invest in a classic design, you won’t be calling Steven Vandora and Associates a year later to completely redo your green space.
2) It is economical. Many of the landscape elements for popular design options are readily available in many price ranges.
3) It is comfortable. Most classic landscape designs rely on attention to balance and to greenery. This creates a garden that is very function and extremely pleasant.
4) It is time-tested. There is a reason why the English rose-garden or the Victorian botanical garden are still popular design choices. These designs have been tested – and adored —by generations and will gracefully withstand many more generations to come.
